We’ve been friends since 1965. Went through Brownies, Guides, school, Saturday jobs, double dates together. Both got thrown out of ballet class for talking, smoked our first cigarette together, planned a future driving a double  decker bus round Britain selling chicken eggs, were each other’s bridesmaids.  Our song was appropriately  “Those were the days, my friend.
